Norton Save & Restore 2.0 allows you to back up everything on your computer such as digital photos, family videos, key financial records, essential computer system files, and other data just in one easy step. It includes the Symantec Recovery Disk needed for a full system restore and safeguards your important files. File and folder back up lets you choose specific files and folders to save, rather than an entire drive. Backs up to almost any media, including CDR/RW and DVD+-R/RW drives, USB and FireWire (IEEE 1394) external storage devices, and Iomega Zip and Jaz drives. One-step setup wizard automatically creates an initial backup schedule based on your computer’s storage devices and system settings.
Protects all files of a certain type (such as photos or documents) by finding and backing up the exact file types you indicate. Recovers your system and data even when you can’t restart your operating system. Makes incremental backups to maximize space and save time. To receive the full Norton Save & Restore product via download (which includes the Symantec Recovery Disk needed for a full system restore), you will have to download the Norton Save & Restore file (approximately 65 MB) and the .ISO file ( approximately 200 MB) and burn the .ISO file onto a CD to create the Symantec Recovery Disk. Additionally, you must have the Microsoft .NET framework installed.
If you're upgrading to Windows Vista, you do not need to install Norton Save & Restore before continuing your upgrade. Existing Ghost recovery points and data will remain intact on the backup partition following the upgrade; however, neither the recovery points nor data will be accessible until Norton Save & Restore 2.0 has been installed.
