Open almost every archive file imaginable with ALZip. You can open and extract alz, ace, arc, arj, b64, bh, bhx, bin (hex files), bin (CD images), bz2, cab, ear, enc, gz, ha, ice, iso, jar, lcd, lha, lzh, mim, pak, rar, tar, tgz, uue, uu, war, xxe, z, zip, zoo, 7z, and 001files.
There are lots more file extensions that you can open as well. Just drag and drop files like WSZ or WAL WinAmp skin files into ALZip to open them. CD image files can also be opened and individual files extracted.
Create 8 Archive Formats
You can create ALZ, BH, CAB, TGZ, JAR, LZH, TAR, and ZIP archives. That's more than double what many other archiving and compression utilities can do. With so many archive and compression file formats, ALZip is the only compression utility you will ever need.
Self-Extracting Archives (SelF-eXtracting archives, or SFX) are special compressed archives files that have a built in extractor so you can open them without any additional software like ALZip. ALZip lets you create SFX files so you can distribute your files without worrying about whether they can open them or not. Just double-click on an ALZip SFX file to open it. SFX files are executable files (EXE).
SFX options in ALZip let you:
- Choose a custom title for the extractor
- Choose an icon for the extractor
- Set an extraction path
- Run a command after the file is extracted
- Set the SFX for auto-extraction
Split Archives
ALZip's own ALZ format lets you split files into any size you want! From small KB sized split volumes to large GB split volumes, ALZip puts you in charge of how big your split files are. With ALZ split archives you can email anything you want to anyone. Simply type in your custom size and either KB or MB.
Split archives are also known as spanned archives or split zip files.
Password Protect Files
Password protect your archives and compressed files with ALZip password protection to protect your valuable data and file from prying eyes. You can also choose to mask passwords with asterisks or display them in plain text.
Make sure to enter a strong password for maximum protection.
Recover Lost Passwords
If you lose a password, you can try to get it back with ALZip's powerful Lost Password Recovery tool. Just open a password protected ZIP archive and use the lost password recovery tool. You can set options to choose which characters to use when searching for the lost password.
Password cracking is CPU intensive, and the time it takes depends on your computer.

Browse Archives like your Computer
Just like browsing your computer with Windows Explorer, you can browse through compressed archives to find that one file you need. And if your archive is large, you have access to sorting that is more powerful than what Windows Explorer offers. And since it's exactly the same as browsing your computer with Windows Explorer, you're already know how to use it! So even if you are a super-beginner, ALZip makes life easy.
Beginner Help: Windows Explorer is the program that comes with Windows that lets your browse around your computer. You can start it by clicking on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop.
Comment Archives & Files
You can write comments in zip files and compressed archives to keep track of special information about them and the files they contain. You can also comment individual files inside of zip files and compressed archives. (Not all archive formats support comments/notes, but whenever the archive format supports comments, ALZip also supports comments.) Comments are especially useful to keep notes that you can refer to later in case you forget. Customize ALZip Your Way

The ALZ archive format from ESTsoft is specially designed for very large archives. There is no size limit on an ALZ archive like there is for ZIP files. So you can backup storage intensive files like raw video footage. You can also make self-extracting files (SFX) and split archives with it. Split compressed archives can have 2,600 volumes in a single ALZ spanned archive, compared to 100 volumes for most others.

Click and browse to your anti-virus software's EXE file and enter any custom parameters you want. Open Unknown File Types
ALZip lets you specify which program you want to open unknown file types with. This makes opening them much faster than otherwise. Generally, Notepad or a simple text editor is the best choice. Also, since opening unknown files can be dangerous due to worms, viruses, and other malware, the defaults in ALZip will help to protect your computer from harm.
Various options let you choose how to deal with how files are opened from ALZip.
Command Line Interface
ALZip now supports Command-Line Functionality. You can easily perform or automate repeated tasks with the new command line interface. Archiving (Compression)

* When unspecified, the destination archive name is automatically created in the current time-base format (year/month/date/hour/minute).

* The ALZ archive format and the ZIP archive format are supported.
* An archive is created in the user-designated folder.
Extraction
All 35 archive formats are supported.

Command Line Switches
Various command line switches let you perform extra archiving tasks or modify archiving behaviour.

* Command switches have different applications for creating archives and extracting archives.
List of Command Line Switches
Full Path (af): Include full path for files.
Exclude List (an[list]): Exclude listed files from archive.
Background (b): Run compression/extraction task as a background process, giving CPU priority to other programs.
Delete (d): Delete the original files when creating an archive.
Compression Rate (m[rate]): Choose a compression ratio from 0 (highest compression) to 4 (no compression)
Off (off): Logoff of the current Windows user account when task finishes
Password Protect (p[password]): Password protect an archive from the command line
Self-Extracting Archive (sfx): Create a self-extracting archive EXE file
Select Icon (si[index]): Choose an icon for an SFX file (from 1 to 4)
Test (t): Test an archive after creating it
Volume Size (v[size]): Create a spanned archive with volumes split into a specific size measured in bytes, KB, MB or BG
Exclude Folders (xf): Extract all files in archive to 1 directory
Exclude List (xn): Exclude all files in the comma separated list
Exclude Recursion (xr): Compress only files in current directory and exclude all files in subdirectories in compressed archive
With stronger command line support, you can get more done faster and easier with ALZip. But make sure to stay tuned because we're adding in more support all the time.
Test & Repair Archive Integrity
ALZip can often automatically open and repair corrupt files for you without you needing to do anything. Just use the file as normal. ALZip takes care of all your problems for you automatically and silently. The zip file had errors, but ALZip opened it and when the files were extracted, everything was safe.
Testing the archive lets you know that there are errors as shown below. When you try to extract a damaged file like this, ALZip will automatically and silently repair the damage as it extracts your files. 
Windows Vista icons in ALZip beautify your PC whether you are running Windows Vista, XP, 2000 or 98. While the special Vista icons are only available on Windows Vista, other Windows operating systems can still enjoy the glassy look of Vista with ALZip. The new ALZip Egghead icon is cuter than ever and promises to put a smile on your face everytime you start your computer. That's him on the left on Windows Vista, but he's still super-cute on Windows XP and earlier as well, so nobody gets left out!

Simply double-click on a ZIP archive and ALZip will automatically extract the file(s) into your preferred default folder. This default folder can be pre-defined in ALZip's preferences.
The ALZip Speed Extractor gives you three distinct speed levels: 
- Open with ALZip = Normal
- Extract to My Default Folder = FASTEST!
- Show Menu = Super fast
THE NEED FOR SPEED: The "Extract to My Default Folder" lets you instantaneously extract archives just by double-clicking on them in Windows Explorer. You get to skip all that GUI stuff and just extract the files. It is impossible to get faster than this unless the computer is reading your mind!

Overwriting Files
Overwriting files can be dangerous and can lead to the loss of important data. Fortunately the overwrite options in ALZip help keep things fast, simple, and reliable. You can overwrite files: - Always
- If Newer (Update)
- If Older (Restore)
To update a set of files on disk, the "If Newer (Update)" option will extract only those files from the archive that are newer than the files on disk. This is especially handy for large project directories.
If Older (Restore)
Restoring backups is simple with this option. Only those files from the archive that are older are written to disk. This is especially useful for restoring corrupted project directories where something has gone wrong, but you have a backup archive where the project was in a good state.
In all cases, files that don't exist on disk are extracted as well, just as you would expect them to be.
